GLO TIPS

It is important to follow these steps in order to ensure that you receive the best tan possible:

PRE GLO CARE (BEFORE APPOINTMENT)

  • Do not shower before your session. If you do the tan will not be as dark. Please exfoliate and shave 24 hours before your appointment NOT the day of. Soaps and hair products can leave residue on your skin that could leave your tan streaky and discolored.

  • It is important to do this the day before to remove all dead skin cells so we are not tanning over dead skin. Your tan will last longer and look more even if you exfoliate properly.

  • Make sure before your appointment that you have removed all make-up, deodorant, perfume, and lotions! This will cause a green residue on your skin. When you have products on your skin prior to your session it creates an invisible film where the solution will not penetrate. So make sure you have NO products on your skin the day of your appointment.

  • Nails, lashes and waxing needs to be done 1-2 days prior your tan.

  • Please have dark loose-fit clothing with sandals to change into. During your session you are allowed to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. If you decide to wear a swimsuit, bra, or underwear please make sure they are dark. Our solution will wash out of MOST fabrics but better to be safe than sorry! NO yoga pants, skinny jeans, leggings, socks etc.

  • Note: Men must wear swim trunks, underwear, or shorts.

AFTER GLO CARE (AFTER APPOINTMENT)

Do not exercise heavily and minimize sweating. Shower only when instructed as this is based on your customized color. â€‹

  • After your appointment, stay home, or go home and relax. Do not book your spray tan if you have errands to run afterwards or plans that day. You won't be able to wear tight clothes or use any products on your skin until 12 hours AFTER your appointment.

  • You do not want to sweat or get wet until you've rinsed the cosmetic bronzer off your skin. Your first initial rinse should ONLY BE A RINSE. Rinse in lukewarm to cool water until the water runs clear. Do not shave, exfoliate, shampoo, or use any body wash or soaps. This will strip the DHA and create streaks and will ruin your tan. After you rinse make sure you PAT dry with your towel never rub.

  • In order to maintain your tan, make sure you are moisturizing 2-3 times a day and stay well hydrated. Drink that water!

  • Utilize additional products offered designed specific for your tan. There are products such as Tan Mousse, Tan extender, body wash and daily lotion available!

  • Time to remove and renew your tan? Exfoliate your skin by using a tan remover, exfoliating mitt (offered for purchase), or soak in a tub with baby oil. This is crucial to prep for your next beautiful Glo!

WHEN TO RINSE/ SHOWER

After your spray tan you are going to see immediate color. This is not your spray tan it is only bronzer. The bronzer needs to stay on the skin for a certain amount of time before rinsing it off. Your spray tan will be developed in 12-24 hours after your appointment.
If you choose the regular (8 hour solution) you need to leave the bronzer on your skin for 8-10 hours before rinsing it off. After 12 hours from your appointment time you can take an actual shower.
If you choose the glow on the go (rapid solution) you will need to rinse 1-4 hours after your appointment time. A technician will give you an exact time and instructions after your appointment. After your rinse it may appear like your tan is completely gone, but remember all spray tans take 12-24 hours to completely develop. The rapid option just gives you the convivence to rinse sooner than 8-10 hours. You can shower the day after your appointment.
Your rinse and shower are NOT the same! Your rinse is a water rinse only! You cannot wash your hair or body. When rinsing the bronzer off your skin make sure the water is cool/lukewarm. If the water is too hot it can affect the darkness of your spray tan. You will need to rinse until the water runs clear. If you see streaks/blotchiness after your rinse you need to get back in and rinse again. Always pat dry with a towel after you shower while you have your spray tan.

PRODUCTS TO AVOID

  • Dove soap (bars AND liquid)

  • Baby Oil

  • Astringents (toners/cleansing agents)

  • Any products containing AHA’s or BHA’s or RETIN, accutane and salicylic acids

  • Acne cleansers

  • Bug sprays

  • Sunscreen with oils

  • Products with mineral oils

  • Adhesives (tape/bandaids)

  • Exfoliating products

  • When in doubt, don’t use it :)

HOW LONG AFTER MY TAN CAN I GO TO BEACH/LAKE/POOL?

Collapse

We recommend avoiding these situations for at least 48 hours. Chlorinated pools and salt water beaches can increase the rate in which the skin exfoliates causing the tan to fade rapidly. Try to avoid hot tubs as this is a good way to remove dead skin cells and increase chances of tan wearing off much quicker.

PREPARING FOR NEXT TAN

Follow Pre Glo instructions and remove any dead skin and existing tan from your skin. Think of creating a clean, dry canvas for your next tan. Exfoliating mitts are a convenient way to remove old tan, available for purchase.

How To Avoid the Orange

  • Your Glo is an investment, and making sure your technician is professionally educated and trained on the products and services they offer is crucial. If a technician were to choose a color not right for your skin tone, you will pull an orange hue.

  • Shower only when you are instructed to. If a tan is kept on longer than advised, it will develop into a potentially unnatural color. When in doubt, showering sooner if you absolutely cannot wait the recommended time is always better.

  • Color customization based on your skin tone and desired color is always a top priority. Unfortunately, not everyone can achieve the ‘J Lo’ Glo  and therefore might need a more natural tan based on your skin tone, which is very achievable!

  • Some medications, bodily hormones, and certain products can and will throw off PH levels causing your tan to turn orange. This is why it is important to complete the client form when booking and notify your technician of any recent skin or medication changes.
